About Me

Hi! I’m Ella
Ever since I can remember, I’ve been obsessed with learning about birth. I’d watch videos, read books, listen to birth stories.
I didn’t seriously consider birthwork as a career until the people closest to me started having babies and I wanted to do everything I could to support their transitions to motherhood.
After attending my first birth, I knew this was my calling.
I started my training with Global Birth Community in the fall of 2025 and became certified as a birth doula in the spring of 2026.
I’ve heard too many stories of birth trauma and heavy starts to women’s motherhood journey, which is why I am so passionate about helping those close to me to have a different experience- one they would describe not as heavy but as light.
Matthew 11:29 says that Jesus’s “yoke is easy and (His) burden is light.”My name means “light” and my mission is to bring the presence of Jesus, who is LIGHT, into your birth experience.

FAQS

What is a doula?

A doula is a non-medical support person for a woman in labor and her partner!
This support starts before the labor begins with prenatal appointments. We’ll meet to discuss your birth plan, labor coping strategies, and to provide some education on the physiology of birth. I’m available for the duration of your pregnancy to provide support and will be on call for several weeks surrounding your due date. I’ll join you when you are in active labor and provide emotional support, suggestions for progressing labor, and a continuity of care. I will talk through options with your family but I do not provide medical advice or care.

No, a doula provides educational, physical, and emotional support. Your midwife or OB is your medical provider.

No! A doula supports both you and your husband as a birthing team. Many women feel that their husband was able to be more present and focused on being their emotional support as the doula is there and able to provide more of the physical support.

Doulas support all types of birth! Whether in a hospital, birth center or home, unmedicated, epidurals, or c-sections.

Labor can be long, and your care team can include many different providers and shift changes. A doula provides continuous support to you and your partner as a constant presence amidst the changing faces. Research shows that the presence of a doula can decrease labor times and reduce the use of interventions including c-section.

Testimonials

Ella being my doula was the best birth decision I made! She partnered with me and my husband so well, allowing me to have constant physical, emotional, and spiritual support. Ella advocated for my family when there were tough decisions that needed to be made. She helped me feel like it was my decision and that I had control over the way I wanted things to go. I can't recommend Ella enough!
